      Last summer, I led a small group on a Boundary Waters canoe trip in northern Minnesota. Dawn came wrapped in fog, and one morning, a thunderstorm hit just as we started a portage across slippery granite. We stayed connected. We used every skill we\u2019d practiced on dry land\u2014map reading, rescue drills, the precise art of keeping calm when the sky BOOMS. Because we had the training, what could have been a real crisis turned into a profound ADVANTAGE.<\/p>\n
